Facebook launches in the near future an AdSense Alternative?

In recent years, has often been speculated that Facebook advertising program be eventually open to external websites and therefore would become one of the main competitors of the top dogs Google and its AdSense advertising program. Previously had been denied to Facebook every time that this move was planned, when asked for one.

In June 2012, Facebook has now surprisingly its privacy policy amended to the effect that Facebook’s personalized advertisements to members present outside the Facebook site will be allowed. Specifically, it states the following:

“We may display ads, including those with social context (social contexts or exclusively) on other web pages turn. These work just like those of us connected on Facebook ads – the advertisers do not receive your information. Only people who could see the Facebook action (as in your Chronicle) would see them linked in this way. ”
The inclusion of such a paragraph in the privacy policy would make no sense if it were not currently also developing an appropriate product. To become a real alternative AdSense, Facebook would also have the know-how, in not being able to show logged in users Facebook ads that fit the theme of the pages visited. With its well-stocked war chest from the IPO could Facebook shouldering such a transfer problem or develop the appropriate technology for the classification of web content to the product.
What Facebook has been prevented from extending its advertising program to other Web Sites, is probably the fact that the Users of the ever-growing data-Sammelei are facing more and more critical, even if this issue is discussed in the international principle never as hot as in Germany.
In an interview with Computerworld UK Facebook’s top Datenschützerin Erin Egan was in May 2012 needs something more concrete. She said, though, we currently have “nothing to announce,” but already outlined, such as a specific advertising campaign could look outside of Facebook. Just as it is now on the Facebook website, would then appear on external Web sites among the advertisements little evidence that the Facebook friends are also a fan of a promoted product or brand. The crucial issue for website owners will ultimately be, whether Facebook to open its advertising program for every little nondescript webmaster, or whether you work only with selected and very large external websites. It is currently still so in the stars, if Facebook really become an alternative to Google AdSense developed. Since Facebook is currently looking for a justification for the billion-dollar stock market valuation, the chances are for an expansion of the advertising program to other Web Sites not bad. For in order to arrive at the important measure called “revenue per user” on a similar level as Google increase would Facebook this value from the current $ 4.35 to ten times, which in itself through changes to the ads on the Facebook website is difficult will be achieved.
